Tips For Making Your Hawaii Travel Plans

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Are you interested in planning a trip to Hawaii? If you are, the travel plans that you have to make may seem overwhelming, especially at first glance. The good news, however, is that planning your dream trip to Hawaii is actually a lot easier than it originally sounds.

The first step in making your Hawaii travel plans is to decide on a location. Hawaii is filled with a number of beautiful islands, all of which make great vacation destinations. Maui is one of the most popular choices for travelers, like yourself. However, it is important to remember that you do have other options. These options include Oahu, Kauai, Big Island, Molokai, and Lanai.

Once you have decided on a location, you will want to start examining your overnight accommodations. This is important, as it may open up a world of opportunities for you, as well as save you money. Hawaii hotels are popular. If you choose to stay at one, you may be able to find affordable, moneysaving vacation packages. These vacation packages, although they do come in a number of different formats, may allow you to book your hotel, flight, and car rental all at the same time and for one affordable price.

In keeping with your overnight accommodation options, Hawaii hotels are nice, but you should know that they aren’t your only options. You should also examine Hawaii vacation rentals. What is nice about Hawaii vacation rentals is that they include so many different property types. These properties include homes, cottages, condos, villas, and apartment rentals. When making your choice, be sure to examine and compare rental fees, features, and convenience.

Whether you choose to stay at a Hawaii vacation rental or a Hawaii hotel, it is important to make your reservations well in advance of your trip. Hawaii is a popular vacation destination. This means that you will likely face some competition. Early reservations help to ensure that you get your first choice accommodations and that your Hawaii vacation is just how you imagined it would be.

As previously stated, if you book your Hawaii vacation in the form of a package, you often get to make your flight arrangements and car rental reservations all at the same time. If you opt for a private Hawaii vacation rental, you may need to make your reservations separately. The good news is that most online travel websites will let you do so.

Speaking of your other Hawaii travel arrangements, it is important to decide if you would like to get a Hawaii car rental. When making this decision, examine your overnight accommodations. Hawaii vacation rentals are often centrally located, but they may not be on the route of public transportation. That is why you should also examine Hawaii car rental companies. For a reasonable and affordable rate, you should have the ability to come and go as you please.

Your airline reservations also need to be made and well in advance of your trip. If you would like to book a stay at a private Hawaii vacation rental, it is a wise idea to make your airline reservations later. This is important, as some vacation rentals have limited availability dates. You do not want your flight to arrive in Hawaii two days before your vacation rental is available for you. To help you save money, be sure to price compare. There are a number of airlines that service Hawaii; therefore, you will want to take the time to find the best deals.

It is also a good idea to preplan your Hawaii vacation activities. Do you already know what you want to do and see when in Hawaii? If so, you are at an advantage. In all honesty, there is so much for you to do and see while vacationing on a Hawaii Island that you may not have time to do it all. That is why you should first create a list. What Hawaii attractions are must visits for you? Which Hawaii activities have you always dreamed of participating in, like learning how to surf?

As a reminder, an important part of planning the perfect Hawaii vacation involves making your travel arrangements well in advance of your trip. London Travel – Free Things To Do In London

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

London is my favorite city on this planet. I first went there after graduating high school and for the past 20 years I try and visit at least every couple of years. Unfortunately, the exchange rate between the US dollar and the British pound has made visiting nowadays quite a bit more expensive than it used to be, but there are still plenty of free things to do in London. Here’s a list of some of my favorites.

London Museum Hopping

Most of the big museums in London are free to visit. So on each of my trips to London, I usually visit a couple and spend a few hours wandering the galleries and exhibits. Some of my favorites are the National Portrait Gallery just on the edge of Trafalgar Square; the Victoria & Albert (V&A) in South Kensington; and the Tate Modern on Bankside near the London Bridge.

Window Shopping and the Street Markets

There are so many cool shops in London, that I like to stay away from the chain stores. It’s more fun to putter around shops that aren’t just like the ones back home. My favorite location for window shopping is Covent Garden and the streets that run off of it. I usually duck into Neal’s Yard on Neal St, just a few blocks from Covent Garden, to treat myslf to some nice cheese at the Neals Yard Dairy. Sorry, the cheese isn’t free!

Other favorite puttering spots are Kings Road (starting near Sloane Square), and Carnaby Street. Some of the side streets in Soho also have some interesting shops and if you like books, Charing Cross Road and the streets that run off of it are fun to wander around.

Also, be sure to check out some of London’s most popular street markets. My favorite is the one at Portobello Road in Notting Hill for lots of cool second hand goods and flea market finds. There’s a market here six days a week! Sunday is the only day there is no market.

If it’s Sunday though, you can always head over to Camden Market. That’s the best day to go there anyway. As you exit Camden Tube station, just head north, but you won’t have any problem with getting lost because the place will be mobbed with people.

People Watching

No matter what time of year you visit, London is always bustling with people. There are some great locations in the city to just spend a couple of hours soaking in the flavor of the place. Piccadilly Square and Trafalgar Square are the more obvious spots, but I also like Covent Garden because it tends to be a bit quieter and they usually have street performers too.

If you find yourself wandering around on a Sunday and you aren’t in the mood for Camden Market, why not head over to Speaker’s Corner in Hyde Park and see who’s decided to give a speech. Watching the audience that gathers is as fun as watching some of the more entertaining speakers.

Hopefully, I’ve helped you out with a few ideas of some of the different free things you can do in London. The city is such a vibrant and ever-changing place to be that I find just wandering in whichever direction I feel like turning leads to some exciting new place to be discovered. All you really need is a comfortable pair of shoes and maybe a pass for the Underground.

If you’re planning a trip to London, be sure to take a look at Where to Stay in London before you make your hotels plans. Also, find out how to get cheap London theatre tickets how to use London Underground Transport

7 Critical Business Financing Mistakes

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Avoiding the top 7 business financing mistakes is a key component in business survival.

If you start committing these business financing mistakes too often, you will greatly reduce any chance you have for longer term business success.

The key is to understand the causes and significance of each so that you’re in a position to make better decisions.

>>> Business Financing Mistakes (1) – No Monthly Bookkeeping.

Regardless of the size of your business, inaccurate record keeping creates all sorts of issues relating to cash flow, planning, and business decision making.

While everything has a cost, bookkeeping services are dirt cheap compared to most other costs a business will incur.

And once a bookkeeping process gets established, the cost usually goes down or becomes more cost effective as there is no wasted effort in recording all the business activity.

By itself, this one mistake tends to lead to all the others in one way or another and should be avoided at all costs.

>>> Business Financing Mistakes (2) – No Projected Cash Flow.

No meaningful bookkeeping creates a lack of knowing where you’ve been. No projected cash flow creates a lack of knowing where you’re going.

Without keeping score, businesses tend to stray further and further away from their targets and wait for a crisis that forces a change in monthly spending habits.

Even if you have a projected cash flow, it needs to be realistic.

A certain level of conservatism needs to be present, or it will become meaningless in very short order.

>>> Business Financing Mistakes (3) – Inadequate Working Capital

No amount of record keeping will help you if you don’t have enough working capital to properly operate the business.

That’s why its important to accurately create a cash flow forecast before you even start up, acquire, or expand a business.

Too often the working capital component is completely ignored with the primary focus going towards capital asset investments.

When this happens, the cash flow crunch is usually felt quickly as there is insufficient funds to properly manage through the normal sales cycle.

>>> Business Financing Mistakes (4) – Poor Payment Management.

Unless you have meaningful working capital, forecasting, and bookkeeping in place, you’re likely going to have cash management problems.

The result is the need to stretch out and defer payments that have come due.

This can be the very edge of the slippery slope.

I mean, if you don’t find out what’s causing the cash flow problem in the first place, stretching out payments may only help you dig a deeper hole.

The primary targets are government remittances, trade payables, and credit card payments.

>>> Business Financing Mistakes (5) – Poor Credit Management

There can be severe credit consequences to deferring payments for both short periods of time and indefinite periods of time.

First, late payments of credit cards are probably the most common ways in which both businesses and individuals destroy their credit.

Second, NSF checks are also recorded through business credit reports and are another form of black mark.

Third, if you put off a payment too long, a creditor could file a judgement against you further damaging your credit.

Fourth, when you apply for future credit, being behind with government payments can result in an automatic turndown by many lenders.

It gets worse.

Each time you apply for credit, credit inquiries are listed on your credit report.

This can cause two additional problems.

First, multiple inquiries can reduce you overall credit rating or score.

Second, lenders tend to be less willing to grant credit to a business that has a multitude of inquiries on its credit report.

If you do get into situations where you’re short cash for a finite period of time, make sure you proactively discuss the situation with your creditors and negotiate repayment arrangements that you can both live with and that won’t jeopardize your credit.

>>> Business Financing Mistakes (6) – No Recorded Profitability

For startups, the most important thing you can do from a financing point of view is get profitable as fast as possible.

Most lenders must see at least one year of profitable financial statements before they will consider lending funds based on the strength of the business.

Before short term profitability is demonstrated, business financing is based primary on personal credit and net worth.

For existing businesses, historical results need to show profitability to acquire additional capital.

The measurement of this ability to repay is based on the net income recorded for the business by a third party accredited accountant.

In many cases, businesses work with their accountants to reduce business tax as much as possible but also destroy or restrict their ability to borrow in the process when the business net income is insufficient to service any additional debt.

>>> Business Financing Mistakes (7) – No Financing Strategy

A proper financing strategy creates 1) the financing required to support the present and future cash flows of the business, 2) the debt repayment schedule that the cash flow can service, and 3) the contingency funding necessary to address unplanned or unique business needs.

This sounds good in principle, but does not tend to be well practiced.

Why?

Because financing is largely an unplanned and after the fact event.

It seems once everything else is figured out, then a business will try to locate financing.

There are many reasons for this including: entrepreneurs are more marketing oriented, people believe financing is easy to secure when they need it, the short term impact of putting off financial issues are not as immediate as other things, and so on.

Regardless of the reason, the lack of a workable financing strategy is indeed a mistake.

However, a meaningful financing strategy is not likely to exist if one or more of the other 6 mistakes are present.

This reinforces the point that all mistakes listed are intertwined and when more than one is made, the effect of the negative result can become compounded.

Travel Industry Management: Scam Alert

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

If you’ve been around the internet for any period of time, you’re well aware of the scams arriving by email informing you of the vast sums of money you have won. Or, if you help the Nigerian Princess move money out of her country, you can have a cut of it.

These scams have permeated the web so much that they have a name: 419 scams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance_fee_fraud). 419 is the Nigerian Criminal Code that deals with fraud. Most (but not all) of these scams originate from Nigeria.

If you read the Wikipedia entry linked earlier, you should take away two points:

1. These scams have been around a long time. The originated in the early 80’s and were run via letters, faxes, telex.

2. These scams come in ALL shapes and sizes. If a scammer can come up with a way to scam someone, they will try it over the Internet.

While there are countless variations of the 419 scam, I want to explain the version I’ve seen that targets vacation rental owners. Read on to make sure you don’t fall victim to a scam.

Imagine you make a booking for someone who pays you via a cashiers check. They accidentally overpay and when they find out, they ask you to send a refund via Western Union. Guess what? You’ve just been scammed!

As it turns out, the cashiers check is fake and it often takes your bank weeks to determine that it is fake. By then, the scammer has their money via Western Union, and you are left with nothing from the cashier’s check except possibly a fee from your bank and a lesson learned. Good times.

Don’t worry – it’s pretty easy to protect yourself. You just need to know how these scams work so you know what to look out for.

These scams work like this:

1. The “renter” pays you money (rent)

2. The “renter” ask for some amount of money back. The reasons are endless: Accidental overpayment, medical emergency, they want to cancel the booking.

If they’ve paid by check, money order, or cashiers check, you simply need to ask your bank to make sure it’s cleared and is not a fake before you issue the refund. If the “renter” asks for a refund via Western Union or other wire service, it’s a scam.

If you end up in this position, do not refund any money until the bank confirms the check isn’t fake. The renter will play on your emotions, telling you they need the money for medical bills or something horrible. Unfortunately, you cannot trust them.

These scams are so common now and so hard to prosecute, that the scammer will likely never be arrested for what they have done. However, if you find a scammer trying to scam you by booking your vacation home, please do the following:

* Cease communications with the scammer

* Notify the FBI here http://www.ic3.gov/

* Notify the vacation rental listing website they used to contact you. That will allow the website to contact other owners that also were contacted by the same individual.

* Notify the scammers email provider. This can usually be done by sending an email to “abuse@” and then putting the domain name for the email provider. For example, abuse@gmail.com or abuse@yahoo.com. The provider will usually shut down that email address which may help other owners.

Motorola Cell Phones No Contract Becoming Hotter Than Ever

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

After a solid year end quarter, Motorola Cell Phones No Contract plans to keep on staking its claim to the smartphone market by releasing an unprecedented twenty smartphones in 2010. The company did very well last year making No Contract Cell Phones like the Droid for Verizon Cell Phones and the Cliq for T-Mobile Cell Phones. With the 20 cell phones slated to come out this year includes a Google device that will be sold right to consumers versus one sold through the carrier. This has turned into a more well-liked move in recent years, take the Google Nexus One for instance and Motorola Cell Phones was fast to jump on board with the concept.

Yes, the portable device market is bouncing back and many if not all corporations expect great things in 2010. But to get profits they will need products and it seems as if Motorola Cell Phones has no shortage of those. We the patrons might think about 2009 as a “testing the waters ” kind of year for Motorola Cell Phones. Well, after a positive reception from the overall public, the company wants to go from “testing the waters ” to taking a market share of the smartphone industry. In other words, they feel they are prepared to rule the market. But 20 cell phones in a single year, is this oversaturation, over impressive, in general a really bad idea.

Likely it’s not. Why do you ask? Well, think of what 20 cell phones can accomplish in a single year. The company can focus a few phones on the business demographic, another couple on multimedia aspects for a young audience, a few camera phones, some cross over devices ; essentially, a tiny bit of everything. But they will also be ready to explore new ideas, precise niches, get a grasp on different technologies, test the waters with leading edge concepts while still turning a nice profit with already proven devices. With 20 phones in a single year they can permit a flop or two, but imagine if some of the more experimental concepts don’t flop, instead they’re great success stories? Well, then they have done potentially as well as they can expect. And I assume this is the sense behind the launch of so many devices. So expect that a large range of phone inside that 20, not just 20 just about identical devices.

It’s now safe to say the market for cell phones is largely simply a smartphone market. There are few basic handsets left and that’s why there’s such a scramble to create a name for a company in the changing market. It is now or never. This may well be the year that decides which cell phone makers will be a force in the approaching years and what corporations will target other projects entirely. Definitely it feels as though Motorola will stake its claim among the major players of the industry.

Golden Ring Of Russia -travel Guide, Part 2

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Sergiev Posad (founded in 1345, population 115,000) – the spiritual center of Russia, residence of the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, where the remains of the first national saint, Sergei Radonezh, rests. In the heart of Sergiev Posad is a well-preserved splendid architectural ensemble of over 50 historical buildings, as well as magnificent art collections including old Russian painting and the treasures in the vaults of the former Trinity Monastery.

Suzdal (founded in 1024, population 12,000) – this little quiet town is a real gem, one of the most beautiful in the Golden Ring collection of citeis and towns. In the 11th century Suzdal became the very first forepost of Christianity in the North-Eastern Russia and significantly affected the religious life in Russia until the end of 19 century. The town was destroyed by Mongols in 1238. Later Suzdal became the capital city of Russian prince Yury Dolgoruky who is considered to be the founder of Moscow. The second destruction of the town came with the Polish invasion in the 17th century. Here you can find over 100 church and secular buildings dating from the mid-12th to the mid-19th century crowded into a area of 9 square km.

Tutaev (founded in 1283, population 45,000) – is an old little town sprawling on both banks of the Volga river. Tutaev (formerly known as Romanovo-Borisoglebsk) is divided by the Volga river into two parts. The former town Romanov is located on the left high bank of the river, the former town Borisoglebsk is on the right sloping one. Romanov was called after the Russian prince Roman of Uglich who was the founder of this town, Borisoglebsk got its name in connection with the Church of St. Boris and St. Gleb erected there in the 15th century. The towns were united under the new name Romanovo-Borisoglebsk in 1822. In 1918 the town’s name was changed to Tutaev in honour of the Red Army hero who was killed during the Civil war .

Uglich (founded in 937, population 38,000) – the town was built on a major trade route. In its history Uglich has survived destruction by the Mongols and lived through the devastation of fires and plagues. Uglich is famous for Russia’s darkest secret – the death of young Prince Dimitri, son of Ivan the Terrible who is often called Tsarevich (a heir to the throne) Dmitry. The Tsarevich, a sickly boy, was the last of the Rurik dynasty. While playing with a knife in the yard he stabbed himself by accident or was stabbed by an assassin allegedly sent by Boris Godunov, his competitor for the throne. The center of the town also is a historical and architectural landmark. The streets are wide, with various churches standing side by side along the road. These churches vary in size and have domes and belfries of different shapes and designs, all of which add to the charm of this small town. Uglich is known in Russia for simple-designed and reliable watches. The local factory, which makes beautiful women’s watches decorated with special “Finift” paintings on porcelain which are incorporated into the bands of the watches.

Vladimir (founded in 1108, population 400,000) – one of the oldest Russian cities, was founded by the Russian Prince Vladimir Monomakh on the banks of the Kliazma river. The city really blossomed in the 12th century during the reign of Prince Andrey Bogolubsky, who strengthened its defences, welcomed architects, icon-painters, jewellers from other countries, built new palaces and churches so magnificent that travelers compaired them with the ones in the “mother of all Russian cities”- Kiev. Until the middle of 14th century the city had been an administrative, cultural and religious center for North-Eastern Russia. During the Mongol invasion in the 13th century Vladimir was beseiged, looted and almost totally destroyed. Presently the city is a capital of the Vladimir province.

Yaroslavl (founded in 1010, population 600,000 ) – as the legend goes it was founded by the famous Russian prince Yaroslav the Wise as a fortified settlement on the Volga river. After a huge fire of 1658 that turned most of the city into ruins, Jaroslavl was rebuilt in stone and reached the peak of its architectural development with palaces and churches richly decorated with beautiful frescoes and ornaments thus earning the title “Florence of Russia”. The first Russian professional theater was established here by Volkov in 1750. Since the 18th century Jaroslavl has been an important industrial center. Today it is a quiet metropolitan city, one of Russia’s largest regional centres, a capital of the Jaroslav province and one of the most beautiful cities of old Russia.

Yuriev-Polsky (founded in 1152, population 20,000) – was founded by the Prince Yury Dolgoruky (who also founded Moscow in 1147) and named after himself. The second word “Polsky” means “among the fields” as it is situated in the heart of fertile and flat Suzdal land. These beautiful landscapes inspired the great painters and writers such as Repin, Tyutchev, Odoevsky, Soloukhin. Local textile centre since the 18th century.

HOW TO GET THERE: By plane to Moscow. From Moscow you can travel the cities and towns of the Golden Ring either by a tour bus or by a river cruise ship. The last option limits the number of towns that you can visit as they have to be situated close to the Volga river. We recommend you to take a bus tour for 3 to 10 days depending on your stamina and level of interest in Russian history. A typical 3-4-day tour from Moscow covers up to 7 cities and towns of the Golden Ring. You travel during the day time in a comfortable bus with a well-trained English-speaking guide and spend nights at hotels with Western-class service (usually- 3 star). The Golden Ring tour can be perfectly combined with 2-3 day program in Moscow. Almost every major travel agency in Moscow sells Golden Ring tours and it is much cheaper to buy them on the spot in Russia then to purchase a tour included into a vacation package from Europe or overseas. Communication is not a problem, these days all personnel in respectable agencies in Russia speak English.

WHEN TO GO: The best season to travel to Russia is summer, from June to August, the warmest time of the year there. Rains are usual during summers, do not forget to pack your umbrella. Weather can be unpredictably cold, even in the European part of Russia, so take some warm clothing. You can check next week weather forecast for Moscow here.

TRAVEL TIPS: A passport and a Russian visa are required to travel in or transit through Russia. To learn more about how to obtain Russian visa please visit Russian Embassy website. Without a visa, travelers cannot register at hotels and may be required to leave the country immediately via the route by which they entered, at the cost of the traveler. Russian customs officers strictly follow document regulations so travelers are advised to have all papers in order. It is also recommended that additional copies of passport and visa be kept in a safe place in case of loss or theft. Elderly travelers and those with existing health problems may be at risk due to inadequate medical facilities. Doctors and hospitals often expect immediate cash/dollar payment for health services at Western rates so supplemental medical insurance with specific overseas coverage is very useful. Travelers should be certain that all immunizations are up-to-date, especially for diphtheria and typhoid. Quality of tap water varies from city to city but normally is quite poor. Only boiled or bottled water should be drunk throughout Russia. Crime against foreigners in Russia continues to be a problem, especially in major cities. Pick pocketing, assaults, and robberies occur. Foreigners who have been drinking alcohol are especially vulnerable to assault and robbery in or around night clubs or bars, or on their way home. Robberies may occur in taxis shared with strangers. Be aware that public washrooms are difficult to find, and usually you have to pay there. To use a public phone you will need a token or local card. International calls can not be made from street phones. Your mobile phone will work in Moscow and Saint Petersburg but seldom in regional cities. Taxi fee must be discussed with a driver before a journey. In the major cities you can rent a car if you do not mind fairly rugged road conditions, a few hassles finding petrol, getting lost now and then and paying high rent price. Public transport in Russia is quite good, cheap and easy to use though sometimes overcrowded. Restaurants seldom have a menu in English. Tipping is expected but not mandatory. Signs in English are common on the streets of Moscow and other big cities. In large cities it is not hard to find a passerby who can answer your questions in Engish. Electricity throughout Russia is 220 volt/50 hz. The plug is the two-pin thin European standard.

We wish you a safe and nice trip!

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

In 1998, Google initial became incorporated being a private company, launching its search engine about the World Wide Internet. Twelve years later, Google is the world’s most well-known research engine and internet site, and considered by some even to become probably the most powerful brand within the world. Being a central hub from which 1 can access virtually any piece of info ever put on the net, Google has turn out to be the flag ship in a vast fleet of information compiled by the entire planet more than for the past two decades.

Their rapid achievement and commercial growth has allowed them to extend far beyond the core search engine. Google now has its personal email client, web browser, and most notable as of recently: it is own working method for use with cellular phones and apparatuses, dubbed “Android”.

T-Mobile cell phones were the initial to incorporate Android using the release of the T-Mobile cell phone, the G1, also marketed as the HTC Dream as the hardware components had been produced by HTC. Though recently discontinued on July 27, 2010, the T-Mobile G1 was succeeded by the T-Mobile G2 Touch (Also developed by HTC and dubbed the HTC Hero), which was HTC’s third phone to work with all the Android method.

Other T-Mobile cell phones making use of the Android operating program include the HTC Desire, the T-Mobile myTouch 3G (Or HTC Magic), the Nexus One, LG’s GW620 Eve, the Motorola Cliq, as well as the Samsung Behold II. As of now, the net sales of smartphones running on Android surpass those of both BlackBerry OS, and Apple’s iOS, contributing to one third of all smartphone working techniques sold inside the second quarter of 2010.

This substantial margin more than competed working techniques could be partially attributed to Android’s massive third party support inside the development of applications. Mainly because software program development kits are accessible to even amateur programmers, you can find some 70,000 apps currently available, with many thousands much more estimated to have been submitted. Its use of the widely well-liked Java has made user produced apps even easier to program. Android’s success as an operating method can also be attributed to its basis about the Linux kernel, Linux being regarded as to be one of the most reliable, stable, and capable operating methods – itself the product of user collaboration.

From The Brick to Used Smartphones

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

Cell phones are the lifeline for several people. It has been this way for years, but in today’s society, it’s more prevalent than ever. You can’t miss walking down the street or driving and seeing someone talking on a used Blackberry or maybe a refurbished Sidekick. You will find a lot of folks who would not know what to do without having one.

Not a whole lot of people know about the history of the cellular phone. They don’t know how it came about. So here’s your chance to find out about its history.

In 1946, the initial cell mobile phone was utilized in Sweden by the country’s law enforcement. The mobile telephone went through two-way signals and could not make any a lot more than six calls. This was not very efficient; nevertheless, that was the way communication with mobile phones was set up at the time.

Nothing really flourished until the 1970s. Even though there was some technology work going on within the 1960s, it did not take off until about a decade later. The very first hands-off cellular mobile phone was manufactured in 1970.

Folks could use their cellular phones without having concerning themselves about calls being dropped while trying to communicate. In 1971, AT&T was the first communications company to ask for cellular telephone service. Nonetheless, it would be another 11 years before the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) gave its blessing to the communications giant.

There would be two generations of cell phones before the recent era. Inside the very first generation of the United States, the first cell mobile phone was made available in 1983. The very first one that was available to use came from Motorola.

It was a foot and an inch long and weighed 28 oz. It was given the nickname of the “Brick” because of the way the mobile phone was styled and shaped. Of course, this mobile phone did not last forever. Other cellular phones came out and the initial one became obsolete.

The next generation started inside the 1990s. A lot more cellular phones were being manufactured. In order to get a better connection, digital signaling was introduced. This also helped in the decrease of dropped calls. By this time, just about everyone that could get a mobile phone did so because it started to become the “in” thing.

Nowadays, there is the 3G. These phones use digital signals and they can send data along with text messaging. A whole lot of them, even used smartphones, have internet capabilities, along with looking at television or listening to music.

It’s just so amazing how the cellular phone has evolved over the years. To think it once resembled a brick to what it has become now. It has definitely been via its share of transformation.

Business Travel Tips for the Rest of Your Family

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

Business travel tips often focus on how to make the actual traveler’s trip easier. But what about the family that is left behind? Often times depending on the age of the kids, it can be just as stressful for them and your spouse. While you are planning out your next trip, take some time to plan out how you are going to spend quality time with your family both before and after the trip.

One thing to plan is something to do when you return so everyone can look forward to that activity and not on the absence. Plan for a trip to the zoo or some other age appropriate activity for your children.

Also it is a good idea to not let your suitcase sit near the front door. This way children do not associate that with you leaving. Seeing a suitcase near the door can trigger negative moods in children, so leave it in your bedroom until just before leaving.

This also goes for when you come back from a trip. Put your suitcase away right away and try to get back into your regular family routine as quickly as possible.

Help your spouse do any chores before you leave, like grocery shopping or laundry. Being a single parent for a couple of days can be challenging, especially when you are not used to going it alone.

Play with your kids before you leave as well. Before trips we are usually just focused on preparing for the trip itself and not on preparing the family.

Call often while you are gone. When on the road don’t forget to check in even more often then when you are in town. This helps maintain a constant reassurance that things are okay.

Today with advanced electronics you could even send videos and pictures of yourself to your family. In today’s world there is no reason you cannot stay in touch on a regular basis.

Often frequent flyer families tend to fall into a rut about travel and it may appear that all in the family accept the situation as is. But talk to your spouse and kids every once in a while to see how they are handling your absences and to see if there is anything that you could do to make it easier on them.

In some cases you might be able to even bring the family with you on your trips. If you have a late week trip you could stay and turn it into a long weekend with our family. This is a great way to break up the routine for them and you as well.

You won’t be able to do this very often, but see if you can do it every once in a while. It will take much more planning on your part, but in the end it is worth it.

Families are often the forgotten factor when talking about business travel tips. There is a whole industry focused on the traveler but not on the family. If you are a frequent flyer, take some time to focus on your family.

Protective Goggles Prevent Risky Manifestations

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Protective goggles are a should in numerous occupations exactly where chance of eye injury is high or serious enough to need such equipment. Of course without protection supplies, tools, or covers for the eyes it’s open and vulnerable to attacks by germs, contamination, all kinds of diseases that start with a small disruption. After a although, the real injuries and diseases start to mature and become too strong to avoid in the entire body somewhere depending on what kind it can be. Thus the finest thing to prevent such consequences is always to seize the attackers beforehand so they can’t infiltrate the body complex, sure some may appear ridiculous but it shall be thanked soon.

Curiously, though sight is the 1 sense we prize above all other additionally it is a single several take for granted within the most casual way. Both employer and employee is guilty of this, which is 1 reason why the United States Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) mandates the use of protective goggles for specific tasks and job categories, typically those which may involve chemical splashes, light flares, flying chips and splinters, or even tear-inducing vapors. Our eyes must never be taken for granted, and also office workers who appear to simply sit in front of a personal computer all day ought to believe much more carefully about their vision.

Of course, protective goggles are inappropriate and downright unnecessary for those who need to stare at a pc display, but other steps could be taken to ease eye strain or prevent it altogether. A single of the simplest points to do in this regard would be to just turn down the brightness and/or fiddle with the contrast level. One more way to help protect the eyes when working for prolonged periods of time in front of a pc monitor is always to, exactly where accessible, select soothing background colors – for instance, choosing a background other than white, which over time can appear garish.

Still other choices would be to adjust ambient lighting levels if possible, and install a unique display above the personal computer check. The check itself should be set at an suitable distance, height, and also tilted at an proper angle – and these may even be changed slightly from time to time so as to vary the kind of work your eyes have to complete. By the same token, it’s also essential to regularly appear away from your personal computer display and focus on diverse objects at various distances, to flex unused eye muscles while giving overused ones a brief respite.

Eyesight is most precious to most people, arguably, but it is also, most fortunately, easily provided for in several cases, as mentioned so far. In much more industrial settings that traditionally have presented much greater risks to the eyes, it is imperative that safety goggles are worn – above the eyes and not merely hanging around one’s neck – and everything else done to minimize chance of damage and injury. And it may well be the law! OSHA standards are in place for a reason, precisely since the darnedest things can and have happened!

Can Used Smartphones Provide GPS as Well as a Stand-Alone System

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Cell Telephone GPS – Is It As Good As a Standalone GPS Unit?

A GPS (Global Positioning System) may be employed either using a mobile mobile phone or being a standalone unit. Both ways appeal to numerous folks. Nevertheless, there are differences between the two. Then there’s the question of regardless of whether or not the mobile telephone GPS is as good as the standalone version.

Using a mobile mobile phone GPS, there may be the assumption that the applications can only be discovered on cell phones. Nevertheless, this isn’t the case. These kinds of applications can also be discovered on iPods and similar electronic devices, even old or used Smartphones. When you require to energy up your GPS with your cellular mobile phone, keep in mind that you will be using a lot of juice from the cellular telephone battery.

This could be a convenience for you in one way; but in an additional, these batteries only have so much power that they drain very quickly, even on, say, a refurbished Blackberry. You may possibly not be able to use the GPS for as long as you had planned. In addition to that, not only will the GPS time be cut short, but you will not have a battery for your refurbished cell phone until you charge it up again.

For that sound, it is possible to use a headset that will connect with your telephone. You will probably be able to hear it extremely well. The signals for a cell telephone GPS will come from the telephone service provider. Should you get a weak signal or no signal at all, it will affect your GPS.

Having a standalone GPS, it’s strictly used for GPS functions. You’ll will need a plug to charge up the program. It also comes with software made for that system. Your vehicle will probably be utilized as source of power through the cigarette lighter.

The built-in speakers will supply the sound. Nevertheless, if you want additional features, you may require a lot more accessories. Since the standalone requires dependency on satellite to function, it’s essential to note that the signal can very easily be knocked out due to inclement weather. If a satellite method in your home may be knocked off track for a gust of wind and rain, then think what it can do to the standalone system.

Then there is the cost factor. People that have the mobile phone based GPS system pay a monthly fee while the standalone GPS needs an upfront one-time payment. The telephone based model offers an alternative in case you use it for a day or so. However, if you’ve a require for that majority with the month, the monthly charge is much better and less costly.

Now that consumers have this information in front of them, they can decide regardless of whether or not the mobile phone GPS is as excellent as the standalone. It can be less costly for those who are on a budget, but timewise it may be costly in terms from the life with the battery.

On the other hand, paying a one-time upfront fee for that standalone can be a far better choice. Nonetheless, there might be folks who cannot afford it all at once. Then there’s the issue of having reliable satellite service. In case you don’t live on an island, you may have a great shot.

These are factors that may weigh on regardless of whether the cellular mobile phone GPS can rank up there with the standalone model.

Newer And Improved HTC Cell Phones No Contract

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

HTC Cell Phones No Contract have been around for some time, but without recognition, however, these No Contract Cell Phones were able to scatter throughout the market. Google, being the smart and strong business they are have made a decision to launch a service for selling electronic books that can be read at once on cartable handsets like the HTC Cell Phones with android software. They’re expecting to have some half-million books in electronic form and ready for sale at the time of writing this essay. They consider themselves to be more of a book distributor or wholesaler and little more ; they’re the middle man between the electronic book and the tech-savvy reader.

The Google division is often known as Google Editions and is offering a substitute for the preferred Amazon Kindle. Instead of having books that can be read on a device that has got to be purchased readers are now ready to have a books come to the device which they already own, the HTC Cell Phones and other smartphones. It is another idea which is increasing the dominance of Google in electronics as a whole. What started with a search website has suddenly flowered into a company that has a competitive smartphone on the market, popular smartphone software on the market as well as ownership of many distinguished net corporations today.

The smartest thing about the Google Editions books is that they should be available on HTC Cell Phones, or any phone with a browser for what it’s worth, but as well as those devices these e-books should be available on any desktop computer, laptop PC, netbooks as well as the smartphone. So anyone who purchases a book may read on a bunch of devices and so isn’t limited. Additionally the reader will not need to carry around a hulking book around when traveling as now the book can be accessed on any number of devices, whether that device is the one in your pocket or the desktop at a library, the decision is yours alone.

These breakthroughs continue to shock and we wonder what may come of all this technology a year from now. If we keep having a powerful product released week in and week out this writer can only speculate at what is going to be available by the end of 2010. Either way, the wait is surely part of the fun as is the expectation and making a guess. What we can presume is that it will not stop anytime soon but instead will continue for a great while longer. And that may only mean more incredible products for us fortunate customers. Keep it coming, guys!

The Best of All Worlds in New Rochelle

Monday, February 15th, 2010

As a developer, Isaac Toussie knows that when looking at residential properties, it is often very useful to consider demographics. Isaac Toussie knows that the demographic profile of an area provides a general picture of the residents, which can be helpful to both buyer and seller determinations of such factors as price. And no less an authority than Business Week magazine crowned New Rochelle the best city in all of New York State to live in and one of the very best nationwide for raising famillies. The American Podiatric Medical Association even named New Rochelle one of the top one hundred most walkable cities in the United States and the second-best in the entire Empire State only after New York City some seventeen miles south.

New Rochelle counts a population of around seventy-two or so thousand, of which slightly over twenty-four thousand are occupied households and about seventeen and a half thousand are families. A major minority population exists, comprising almost half of the total population at around nineteen percent African-American and twenty percent hispanic of any race. There are roughly ninety males for every one hundred females, and just eighty-five males for every one hundred females over the age of eighteen. Unemployment stands at just under five percent of the workforce of over thirty-five thousand able-bodied individuals. As of 2007, the median household income in New Rochelle was thought to be almost sixty-five thousand dollars, with the median family income being just ever-so-slightly over eighty-eight thousand dollars per year.

Accordingly, some of the nation’s most expensive real estate can be found in New Rochelle, with the northern end of the city ranked among the five hundred most affluent zip codes anywhere in America by Forbes Magazine. Average household income here is almost two hundred thousand dollars each year, with homes averaging seven and a half hundred thousand dollars. The city’s Premium Point gated community, located on the Long Island Sound, boasts residences priced between two and twenty million. However, the City of New Rochelle has historically not only met but even surpassed state requirements concerning affordable housing.

The recent economic malaise impacting on the rest of the country has not spared New Rochelle, however, and average listing prices have fallen almost thirty thousand dollars in less than a month between January 20, 2010 and February 10, 2010. But that’s actually the recovery, for in less than a week in mid-January prices had fallen by over fifty thousand!

CDMA Cell Phones No Contract Creates New Beginnings

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Disney Japan has come out with an idea to place Disney movies on MicroSD cards for purchase at the users’ convenience. The movies will be fully loaded onto the MicroSD Card at point of purchase and will be available and compatible for any terrestrial digital broadcasting handsets, also known as DVB-H. In addition they will able to be placed in your CDMA Cell Phones No Contract and car navigation systems, perfect for the kids in the car on a long road trip. Even some of the newest No Contract Cell Phones may not be compatible.

The hope is to launch at this very time. The genius behind this is of course that CDMA Cell Phones are gaining the technology to stream movies onto phones with the potential for rentals, too. However those you cannot own and if you do own a movie that it will take up a lot of space on the CDMA cell phones. Enter the Disney Japan movie MicroSDs. These will allow users to carry very portable movies with them that can be taken in and out of the cell phone at the users’ leisure. Thus it will not take up any extra space on the phone nor is it a burden to carry around. So users will have no trouble getting movies at their discretion.

Clearly because this was done by Disney Japan, the movies will be by Disney. And this of course means that the movies will be mostly viewed by children. So these are great things for parents, families, babysitters and anyone else who is involved with children. Now the kids can be involved in a cinematic adventure during long car rides and even while running errands around town. There is no limit to how these are used it is all about creativity. For example, in a home with one television set, the parents can allow their child to watch a movie on their CDMA cell phones while the parents can watch the evening news. With a little effort there are thousands more ideas like that just waiting to be used with this piece of technology.

It is truly amazing to see just how far we have come in terms of technology. We went from VHS tapes to movies on microSD cards that can be placed into cell phones in a matter of 15 years! That is remarkable and it will continue to get better and better. But for now this is very acceptable. And hey, there are Disney movies that adults can enjoy too, so at this juncture, it looks like everybody wins.

Helpful Credit Repair Information

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

The recession that started in the United States after the burst of the housing bubble there in 2007 has since resulted in a sort of domino effect whereby the collapse of one institution instigates the failure of others – for example, a bank fails, leaving the industry’s burden on other banks too inadequate to hold up the extra weight who fail in turn.

The fall of many companies and institutions, and the drastic changes made to present company’s so as to permit their survival, have left many people in a very alien economic climate and subject to great financial trouble, quite often with no choice but to rely on credit when basic income is insufficient to maintain their regular style of living. Many people without the necessary fiscal cushion to absorb such incredibly harsh blows to the world economy consequently have fallen victim to credit card debt and subsequent injury to their credit, leaving them in dire want of credit repair information.

Many companies exist and offer services to help one repair their credit, especially in cases where excessive outside variables – bills, dependents, housing or mortgage issues, previous debts, etc – make repairing one’s credit a very complicated and daunting task. Nonetheless, people whose predicaments are not so complicated and intimidating, or with more than a rudimentary understanding of financing and economics, may opt to remedy their situation themselves. Still, in these situations, credit repair information is important to their success.

Since the world economic climate has become substantially more hostile over the past few years, companies are not as willing or able to disperse loans or credit to, or otherwise do business with those who’ve fallen victim to bad credit scores. The bar has been raised, and what was once considered a respectable, safe credit rating is no longer suitable. Many institutions will do business only with people whose credit scores are of the utmost balance. Nevertheless, as with all things, knowledge is power, and this is specifically true in financing. Credit repair information is thus integral to decisively and effectively drafting a plan by which to repair one’s credit. In wider, more general terms, credit repair information is the edge one needs to curb their downward spiral and begin reincarnating their credit from the ground up.

As briefly mentioned above, credit score is prone to effect from an endless myriad of factors that may be common among many, or strictly unique to that person. Knowledge of how these factors impact and are afflicted by credit is a vital element to understanding and conceiving of the necessary measures needed to cure credit. Many people simply don’t have the esoteric experience needed to properly determine their problem, let alone fix it. Others still, while capable of performing a plan to repair credit, are simply deprived of the credit repair information they need. Yet, being readily available from many services and companies, credit repair information is easy to obtain and can be used – with or without professional guidance – to finally bring credit scores back to the top.

T-Mobile Cell Phones No Contract Becoming More Popular

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

T-Mobile Cell Phones and T-Mobile Cell Phones No Contract has teamed up with Fender guitars, bringing customers the new MyTouch Fender. This is a smartphone that, clearly with the ties to Fender Guitars, comes with an emphasis on guitars and music. For example, it has a classic Fender Guitar look on the back known as the sunburst finish. Yes, this is a nice, new No Contract Cell Phone that will definitely attract a certain audience but because it has a rich feature set it will attract from outside of that sphere as well.

There is more to this phone than just the Fender Guitar name and the sunburst finish. With it, customers also get a preloaded guitar application and popular songs from artists such as Eric Claption, Wyclef Jean, Brad Paisley and Avril Lavigne. Furthermore owners of this MyTouch will also receive a built-in music player, one which will allow users to make ringtones from the songs being played. It even has DoubleTwist software that will allow users to sync as well as manage music, photos and videos with a home computer. It comes with a Fender carrier case (I hope they look like a guitar case though I’m doubtful) and shells as well as a screen protector. A docking station with speakers is sold separately.

Using the Android software this phone is capable of Google Search, Google Maps with Street View, Picasa and Youtube. T-Mobile Cell Phones also states that currently this phone runs on the Android 1.6 but will be available for the 2.1 update in the spring time. Yes, this is clearly a phone with a rich feature set and it is also a phone we can appreciate for staking out a unique spot. Not only is it a music phone but it’s concentrated on the guitar specifically which is an interesting touch, no pun intended, and I will be interested to see whether it will spawn other music genre phones or other musical instrument phones. Can’t you picture a FunkyTouch or a JazzDroid or a DrumSung By Samsung? I know I can.

This is a cool idea and I love to see the innovation continue. Will it lead to the above stated phones or phones altogether different that endorse a TV show, a movie, a music label, a theatre production, a stand-up comedian, a cartoon, or any number of other things. Only time will tell but you can bet that this is not the last of it. Instead if you’re a betting man, I’d say this is the tip of the iceberg.
