The bicycle provides a speed up to 20 mph, and you can easily get up to 25 miles with a single charge of the particular battery. Now, while this is a fantastic option for use around town you may find that taking longer trips will in addition take you a lot longer to get to your desired destination. Variable Frequency Drives Will Take Us to Mars

Monday, November 14th, 2011

A variable frequency drive is actually a speed manage method employed for regulating the speed of an alternating current electric motor. The speed regulation is effected by varying the frequency of the electrical power supplied to the motor. Variable frequency drives uncover wide application in ventilation systems for big buildings, conveyors, pumps, elevator, machine tool drives, and so on.

An alternating present induction motor draws up to 6 occasions its rated existing in the time of commence up. The present continues to remain high till the motor approaches the full speed. When a variable frequency drive is employed to start the induction motor, a low frequency plus a low voltage are applied to the motor. Typically, the start-up frequency is two Hz or less. As the frequency is low, the current flow in the time of beginning will also be low. As soon as the motor is started using the variable frequency drive, the applied voltage and frequency are elevated at a controlled rate to ensure that the motor doesn’t draw excessive present. This method of beginning enables the motor to as considerably as 150% of its rated torque at much less than 50% of its rated current consumption.

The variable frequency drive program consists of an AC motor, a controller and an operator interface. A controller is really a solid state electronic power conversion device. AC input power is converted to DC intermediate power using a three-phase bridge rectifier technique. The DC energy is then converted to quasi-sinusoidal AC power making use of an inverter switching circuit.

The positive aspects of a variable frequency drive are the following:

Saving in electrical energy consumption is by far one of the most important benefit of employing variable frequency drives. By way of example, AC motors utilized in ventilation systems aren’t needed to constantly run at peak load. Variable frequency drives save power by controlling the volume of air necessary for a specific technique demand.

An induction motor using a variable frequency drive will last longer. The upkeep fees will also be lower. While standard starters start off the motors abruptly, variable frequency drives gradually improve the speed to operating speed. This contributes to a reduction mechanical and electrical stress on the motor.

A variable frequency drive enables better method manage. This is due to the fact variable frequency drives may be programmed to run the motor in the required load, cease as per requirement and apply a specified quantity of torque.

You will find 3 varieties of variable frequency drives. These are constant voltage, continuous current and cycloconverters. Essentially the most essential section of a variable frequency drive is the inverter circuit. These units aid improve energy factor and decrease harmonic distortion.

The TomTom GPS XXL 540 Review

Sunday, July 10th, 2011

It’s beneficial to try to get a lot of road directions already loaded in, route finding potential, and also a good-sized display screen any time wanting to buy a GPS SYSTEM. We tested the TomTom XXL 540 to see if it lived up to its name. Its response to commands on a road trip as well as how well it actually directed us were what we were looking for. Here are our results:

Benefits

The first advantage that you’ll notice about the TomTom XXL 540 is the fact that it has a large 5 inch screen. Trying to get somewhere is much easier because of this. If you have to glance at the GPS while en route, you risk getting into an accident even if it’s just for a second. The TomTom XXL 540’s screen is so large, though, that only an instant is needed.

Lots of maps are already loaded. All of North America is included with the TomTom XXL 540. Plus, with TomTom Map Share, you will be able to share your maps with others, which include additions, user corrections and much more. There is also advanced lane guidance, which uses photo realistic images that help you navigate more easily on the road.

With the TomTom XXL 540, you can decide on your course, either the particular closest or maybe the actual swiftest determined by traffic, and it’s really a piece of cake to position as a result of the award-winning Fold and Go EasyPort mount.

Cons

A couple negatives are worthwhile taking into consideration to make sure you will still be satisfied in case you select the TomTom XXL 540. One individual who by his or her own admission was quite familiar with a second brand didn’t like how long it can take to start up. Somebody else would rather that the maps would be able to be backed up on his personal computer. Nevertheless on the whole, the 1st reviewer gave a good review prior to when he got into the prolonged boot time plus the next reviewer appears like he requires a laptop or computer lesson. It would seem that other GPS systems besides the TomTom XXL 540 currently have these very same difficulties also.

To Conclude

If getting where you want to go while easily being able to see a GPS screen and having an easy time mounting it sound good to you, then you can’t go wrong with the TomTom XXL 540. It may take a little longer to boot than other models, but it’s perfectly useful for any road trip. Just make sure that you back up your maps on your computer so that you can avoid a problem. Other than that, you will find that the TomTom XXL 540 definitely lives up to its name. It’s light weight, it provides you with everything you need to get to your destination and it’s easily mounted to your dashboard with award-winning technology. What more could you ask for in a GPS system?

Reverend Julius Aloysius Nieuwland and the Invention of Neoprene Gloves

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Neoprene gloves were invented by DuPont scientists after hearing a Catholic priest who studied acetylene speak about his work. Though credited, Reverend Julius Aloysius Nieuwland did not profit much from the help he lent – because he wasn’t interested in financial matters. How’s that for someone whose love of his labors is its own reward? Sounds really nice, much in the same vein as Dr. Jonas Salk, who discovered penicillin and basically cured polio. It’s great to see folks who are not motivated by money at all, especially when they happen to be the best and brightest among us! That’s real humanity right there – they are, every one individually, a real Mensch.

No More Blank Envelopes When Computers Take Over

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

This is what happens when computers take over. Forget blank envelopes! You won’t find them anymore. All those science fiction movies that depict a world taken over by computers show something really diabolical, but the reality of it all is much more prosaic (up to now!). Well, actually, it’s exactly that kind of a nightmare for those whose livelihoods have been lost on account of computer automation!

Technology displacing workers and whole sectors of the economy is nothing new, of course, and blank envelopes won’t be made here again anyway – and even then, by machines. Whereas making paper was once a craft in its own right, it’s all done automatically by machines now. But even these overseas workers will be thrown out of work soon enough thanks to all the wireless communications that’s revolutionized just about every facet to how people interact.

Is there anything better than firing off an e-mail or text message at practically the speed of light? No printing required, no postage to deal with, no trip to the corner mailbox, and absolutely no waiting whatsoever for an answer! Well, not unless one’s corresponding with a sloth in Australia!

Demand for blank envelopes is at the lowest point yet. It’s now hard to find them, even, and one must resort to dedicated stationary stores oftentimes. All thanks to the computer revolution that’s upended whole industries worldwide. It’s a far cry from the first envelopes found in Mesopotamia, which would appear to us today to be more like pottery than anything else, made as they were from clay that were dried or even baked in order to be “sealed” – never mind the breaking necessary to be opened!

So technological change is nothing new, nothing new at all. It is, moreover, dramatic in impact but not necessarily in that immediate, visceral way of fiction. Therefore, the actual year of 2001 gives us unmanned drones and the worldwide web while the film 2001 envisioned moon bases, space travel, and artificial intelligence.

Ergo, no more blank envelopes. You can bet the family jewels that that will be the most dramatic impact of our advancing technology. Soon there won’t be any envelopes at all in the whole world!

GSM Cell Phones for Religious Nuts

Monday, May 30th, 2011

When looking for GSM cell phones, get only one that will really be useful to you. Yes, this sounds obvious, doesn’t it, but that’s really all you need to know when it comes to not wasting your money on something that looks good but doesn’t do much for the money. Oddly enough, the widespread availabilty of mobile technology may be a contributing factor to such phenomena: what the French call an embarass de riches. This is to say, the cornucopia of choices out there seem to confuse people more than anything else.

Those who study consumer psychology are familiar with this phenomenon. Whether it’s GSM cell phones or just about anything else, really, most people will naturally feel more and more anxious when presented with an ever more wider variety of choices. It may be surprising, but it’s not entirely counter-intuitive, if you think about it. After all, about half the population — the half known as “guys” — hate to shop. Now why should this be? In a word: instant gratification. Guys just want to “get it over with.” Not even a quick and simple purchase will ameliorate this feeling of annoyance, no matter if it’s as innocuous as getting toiletries or running out for sundry supplies. Imagine how much more annoying it could be when it comes to technology products!

Yes, guys like their toys and so they will love electronic ones, too. Guys like objects; they like controlling things. Yet today’s technology offers a bewildering array of capabilities, feature-sets which only hard-core geeks would love spending time poring over…and most guys do not take pride in being geeks.

And let’s not forget the ladies, yes. Those who usually enjoy shopping, unless it’s for electronics and such.

The existence of so many people who do not care about cell phones is an important fact. Small wonder, no, that they resort to marketing hype to simplify the decision-making process? And so people may wind up with thingamajigs that not only do not help them, but may actually hinder their actual wireless communications needs!

So when in the market for a cell phone, a little introspection of sorts is in order. Just what is it that you wish to do with a handset in the first place? Do you really need all those features? Must you have an on-board radio? Are games that important? Will you need WiFi capabilities as well, or would the data stream of your carrier’s cellular network suffice?

Samsung Galaxy Tab Review

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Technology buffs just look forward to gadgets starting from the latest unlocked cell phones to the coolest new tablets. However, it seems that almost weekly a whole new type of tablet is hitting the market but how you do know which tablet is likely to meet your requirements? Out of all the alternatives you’ve got for your tablet, the Motorola Xoom and the iPad 2 are right towards the top of the list. And naturally the quickness in which new tablets are being designed makes it hard to keep up with the newest ones. One of several of the most recent tablets which were released would be the Samsung Galaxy Tab, which deserves some attention. This is a more compact tablet that offers some very nice capabilities, and the asking price actually makes it an inexpensive alternative. Lets check out exactly what this little fellow will offer.

The Galaxy Tab comes with 16GB of internal memory and has a microSD memory slot if you would like to add more onto the default 16GB (you may add an additional 32GB of space). Most tables these days do not work with flash, nevertheless the Samsung Galaxy Tab does, which, in my opinion makes it even a little better than some others. It comes with a very nice 7 inch touch screen which includes a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The fact that you can transport this tablet in your pocket is actually a major selling point for me personally. Think about trying to fit an iPad into your shirt or pants pocket. It really will not fit. The graphics on this device are sharp and also clear along with vibrant colors and they are very 3D like. Creating video and taking pictures are just a small taste of the technologies in this tablet, you may also make use of it for video chatting. It is WiFi enabled and features Bluetooth 3.0 functionality as well. You’ll also never need to worry about getting lost again, since this tablet also features GPS, and with it’s very quick 3G link you can find directions faster. The battery life is really impressive, up to 13 hours fueled by a 4000 mAh battery. The advantage that this tablet weighs under 14oz, makes it lightweight and simple to take anywhere.

The 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor chip, additionally guarantees that every thing works very quickly. While you can always utilize the keyboard just like a standard keyboard, which is part of the touch screen, this tablet also comes equipped with Swype.. For people who don’t know what Swype is, it is a easy way to enter data quickly, by merely swiping your finger around the keyboard, the Swype figures out exactly what your attempting to enter and enters it for you.

This specific product has been receiving great reviews from the actual consumers. Along with its amazing technologies and Android OS it is definitely a good tablet to choose as itll still be up to date for some time. If you are looking for your very first tablet or maybe if your searching for one which is easier to carry around the Galaxy Tab is certainly worthy of a look.

Shopping at On Off Digital World

Friday, April 15th, 2011

When I think of something like an On Off Digital World I immediately remember the good ol’ days of personal computing, the golden age of the 1980s dominated by the Commodore 64 and Commodore Amiga. Now, actually, despite making many a big and prestigious inroad in the marketplace, corporate problems back at the head office triggered the inevitable collapse of Commodore and so the Amiga lost influence, practically overnight, to Apple Computer. Nevertheless, it’s a safe and true statement that the ’80s was the decade of Commodore. Those were some good times, what with the medium still very new and many a creative programmer pushing the boundaries of what was possible. Indeed, it wasn’t until the middle part of the decade when a title required more than a programmer or two or three! And yet, no matter than there was less than 64KB to work with – or all the more because of it – some of the most imaginative feats of programming excellence took place, like a fully functional graphical WYSIWYG OS!

In Search of On Off Digital World

Monday, April 11th, 2011

A place such as On Off Digital World really brings back memories for me. I had never much cared for shopping, but I can see how some folks might like it if it involves personal memories. Here, anyhow, it involves experiencing the kind of, well, retail experience I once had in much younger days, with exactly this kind of store, one that was once found throughout New York City but which has lost significant market share to the “big box” stores such as Best Buy and so forth. Yes, On Off is a throwback to the ’80s and perhaps earlier, no doubt.

Blu Ray Releases Not Always Better than DVD Versions

Friday, April 8th, 2011

New Blu Ray releases are but the latest embodiment of the observation in the famous French proverb that notes how “the more things change, the more they stay the same.” That’s because just as with the introduction of DVD a decade earlier, many releases failed to live up to what is possible with the Blu-ray format. Sharper pictures? Digital audio delivered across more than seven discrete channels, including the subwoofer? Not necessarily, notwithstanding the twenty-five gigabytes of storage available on conventional single-layer discs. Even if nothing compared to the numbers affected with DVD, when VHS was simply ported straight to disc, still too many a Blu-ray title seems rather like the DVD version!

Blu Ray Disk Taking Over Your Living Room

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

Blu-ray disc – or also called “Blu Ray disk” by people typing into the search engines – is the hottest new thing in home entertainment these past couple of years. Even regular single-layer discs provide 25GB of storage capacity, space that can be used for much sharper video and much better sound. Given less than five hundred lines of image available with DVDs, the Blu-ray disc format offers a thousand and eighty lines. That means more than doubling visual clarity and detail! No big deal? Well, imagine if your vision improved by that same amount – imagine if your eyesight became much more than twice as sharp! No doubt about it, this is entertainment for the modern home!

Blu Ray Media Lets You Indulge Your Inner Spielberg

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Blu Ray media is the latest thing to hit the home entertainment market in some time now. Their main claim to fame rests upon the startling visual clarity offered by the 1080p resolution.. Though the difference between a VHS image and one from a DVD is noticeable enough, that between the DVD and a Blu-ray disc will knock your eyes out! It really has to be seen to be believed. Small surprise, then, that now that consumers are adopting the new format in droves, making possible the emergence of recordable media that allows them to indulge in their own inner filmmakers!
